Police make arrests after break-ins across Tayside area

Over the past week police in Tayside have received several reports of break-ins and motor vehicle thefts across the region.

These include commercial premises, homes and vehicles in the Dundee, Broughty Ferry, Birkhill and Coupar Angus areas.

Following extensive enquiries involving specialist officers from CID, response and road policing, two men, aged 18 and 20, were arrested and charged in connection with a number of these incidents. They appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday, 22 May, 2023.

Enquiries remain ongoing into these other incidents and further arrests are expected.

Detective Chief Inspector Keith Duncan, Tayside CID, said: “I would urge everyone to remain vigilant with regards to their premises and property and bring any concerns to our attention.

“You can see our tips and crime prevention advice on how to keep your property safe and secure on our website. If anyone with a commercial premises feels they would benefit from a visit from one of our crime prevention officers, please get in touch for this to be arranged.

“Officers are carrying out regular patrols of the area and I would like to reassure the public.”
