Police in Carnoustie are appealing for information regarding a series of fires which have been set deliberately around the town's golf links.

The incidents took place earlier this month on and around the Burnside Course at.

They occurred on Tuesday, November 8 at 8.20pm at the first holel; on Friday, November 11 at 7.45pm and 9.15pm near the 18th tee and on Saturday, November 12 at 9.30pm at the second hole.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Our colleagues at the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service have attended at four fires which appear to have been started deliberately, and given their type and locations are being considered as linked.

“On each occasion, damage was caused to bushes and shrubbery, and the cost of clearing up the damage has run well into four figures. We would like to emphasise how dangerous these acts have been, as fires can take hold and spread extremely quickly.

“If you have any information that could assist us, particularly if anyone in your household has been out on these nights and came home smelling of smoke or accelerant, please call 101.
