Choice for Angus - your votes have been counted!

In all, 92 groups from across Angus made bids (totalling £878,784) for a share of the fund, which was available through the council’s Participatory Budgeting programme, Choice for Angus. Participatory Budgeting (PB) is about local people deciding on how public money is spent.

Suitable projects were then put forward for the public to vote for online via the Shaping Angus social pinpoint pages between November 15 and 22. 14,672 votes were cast over the course of that week.

As a result of the vote, 26 projects will receive full funding, four will receive part funding, 27 will unfortunately not be funded while one project withdrew their application.

In the Brechin and Montrose area a total of 1986 votes were cast with eight projects/initiatives successful in receiving their full funding and a further project received partial funding of the balance.

Two projects were unsuccessful.

Maisondieu Parent Voice will receive £2,500 for its early years outdoor area, while Brechin High School will get £7,750 for its community support agriculture.

Autism Friendly Delivery Training will be funded for Strathmore Community Rugby Trust to the tune of £6,640 and holiday clubs will be funded from the £2,200 awarded to Cathedral Boxing Club.

A library renewal is on the cards for Lochside Primary School with its £5000, and Skilz Academy will purchase glow in the dark sport and physical activity for the Brechin and Montrose community to the tune of £8,940.

The award of £10,544 to ANGUSalive will be used for Sensational Sensory and Beat the Street Brechin will be funded by the £17,000 award given to Brechin Healthcare Group.

ANGUSalive Community Sports Hub has received part-funding of £4,426 for its Angus Youth Development Programme.

The two unsuccessful projects were ANGUSalive Children & Families who requested £12000 for funded memberships for low-income families and Montrose YMCA who were seeking £8000 for virtual reality.
