A theatre group which highlights the abilities of people with learning disabilities is to return to Arbroath today (Friday).

The Art Moves project will present a performance of Shakespeare’s ‘MacBeth’ at 1.30 p.m. in the Webster Memorial Theatre.

Now in its sixth successful year the Art Moves Summer Drama Project is an inspiring two week drama course which explores Shakespeare with a group of adults with learning disabilities.

Art Moves Support Treasurer, Sandra Ramsay said: “Art moves members have undertaken drama workshops where it is clear they wholly enjoy, and benefit from, participating in drama. The photograph demonstrates this fully!”

Theatre professionals are employed to work with individuals who are often marginalised and aims to dispel the myth that people with learning disabilities are unable to understand complex stories or participate in the arts fully.

Award winning playwright and director John Binnie returned to work with Art Moves and was joined by designer and photographer Robin Mitchell.
