ARBROATH Choral Society held their annual general meeting and first Christmas concert rehearsal on Sunday.
The Choral Society met at St Andrew’s Church hall and during the meeting musical director Jane Miller paid tribute to long-standing member Mrs Alison Cook who passed away during the summer recess.
Members Hilary Foxworth and David Smith were also retiring, due to ill-health and moving home respectively.
The successes of the previous year were recognised, including the 2011 Christmas Concert, Spring Concert and Glamis Extravaganza.
Alison Hart was thanked for work as accompanist during rehearsals and concerts. Treasurer Ken Miller announced the group had made a small profit of £173.59 over the year, and the committee was re-elected en masse.
The first rehearsal for Christmas was then held, and it was announced Brechin flautist Heather Crabb would be guest soloist this year.
New members are always welcome, especially in the tenor and bass sections, and those interested are encouraged to try a four-week trial period. For information contact Jonathan Joyce on 01241 830475 or visit the website: www.arbroath.choral-society.net.
