Arbroath band crowned victors

AN ARBROATH band is set for success after winning a prestigious music competition.

Two For Flinching recently won the Scottish Battle of the Bands 2012 competition at the Hilton Treetops Hotel in Aberdeen.

Up against the pop / punk five piece were four other bands from around Scotland, who progressed from the auditions stage held at the beginning of the month.

The bands comprises Darren Stead on vocals, Darren Mackenzie on guitar and vocals, Josh Sim on guitar, Liam Mackenzie on drums and Kyle Ford on bass.

They were presented with a cheque for £2,000 which they intend to invest in the future of the band.

Manager Andrew Laurie said: “It was such a huge surprise when we won. We will be investing this money into our first EP and to help find equipment for upcoming gigs.”

Andrew added that the band were always looking to play gigs and would consider any event and are currently working on material for their debut EP.

Following their win the band took to Facebook to thank their fans and supporters for all their help.

Tonight (Friday) they will be playing in Dundee at The Shore and on Friday, September 14 they will be appearing at The Cliffburn Hotel, Arbroath.
