YOUNG Angus farmers lit up the stage last week in an annual talent competition.

On Saturday the annual Angus Tayside Young Farmer Cabaret Competition saw three young farmers’ clubs battle it out under the spotlight at the Webster Memorial Theatre.

The Forfar Junior Agricultural Club, Brechin Young Farmers and Strathmore Junior Agricultural Club each presented a 10-minute programme of song and dance with a dash of comedy.

Sitting on the judges’ panel were Mrs Anne Hamilton, Mr Allan Grant and Mr Andrew Stevenson.

After a closely fought contest Brechin was adjudged the winner with ‘The LAFTAS’, with Forfar in second and Strathmore in third place.

Best act went to Joanna Balneaves and Laura Caney from the Forfar club for their duet.

A spokesperson for the organisers said: “Thanks must go to the casts, audience, stewards, and the visiting closing and opening acts.

“Also our programme sponsors EQ Accountants LLP, Grammies Country Clothing, Gardiner Trailers Limited and Forfar Mart, along with Angus Council for their support through the Event Fund to cover some of the running costs of the evening, all of which were greatly appreciated.”
