ARBROATH will soon be able to toast the anniversary of the Red Lichtie Spitfire with a specially distilled whisky.
To mark the 70th anniversary of the Red Lichtie Spitfire distiller Tullibardine have in its honour created a Highland single malt made from a blend of six to 13-year-old malts.
The Red Lichtie was paid for by the fund-raising efforts of the people of Arbroath, who donated £5,000 to the ‘Wings for Victory’ campaign in 1942.
The town’s Meadowbank Inn will be the main outlet for the malt and it will also be available online at www.meadowbankinn.co.uk.
The label on the bottle is a reproduction of an original watercolour by local artist Ray Will and shows the Red Lichtie flying over Arbroath.
The whisky will be officially launched at the Meadowbank on Tuesday at 2 p.m. when interested parties are welcome. Bottles of the whisky will be signed by Mr Will.
