HOSPITALFIELD House will be open later this month for the first of 2013’s open door events.
The weekend-long event entitled ‘Lustre’ will give visitors a rare opportunity to tour the various in-house collections, experience three art-film installations and sample some excellent cuisine.
The installations Stephen Willats, Elizabeth Price and Rosalind Nashashibi and Lucy Skaer draw strong parallels with the house and its collections and create an overarching theme to the weekend.
Artist and ceramics collector Stephen Willats has created a number of Super 8 films of his extensive collection, three of which make up his installation.
Video artist Elizabeth Price, winner of the 2012 Turner Prize presents ‘The House of Mr X’ a visual journey into the history of the Stanley Picker House in West London, and which resonates with the Patrick Allan Fraser Trust.
Finally ‘Flash in the Metropolitan’ by Rosalind Nashishibi and Lucy Skaer is an atmospheric after-hours exploration of the Metropolitan Museum in New York on 35mm film.
Chef Rod Linton will be hard at work in the Hospitalfield kitchen to produce a selection of homemade treats to be served in the Music Room.
There will be an opening event on the evening of Friday, March 22, between 7 and 9 p.m., and on the Saturday and Sunday the house will be open between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., with tours every 30 minutes for £5.
