Authors shortlisted for Angus Book Award

THE SHORTLIST for an Angus teen book award has been settled by judges.

Four authors have made the grade for this year’s Angus Book Award which aims to encourage reading among teenagers.

The titles are: ‘Buried Thunder’ by Tim Bowler; ‘Hitler’s Angel’ by William Osborne; ‘Mister Creecher’ by Chris Priestly and ‘Slated’ by Teri Terry.

Participating pupils will have the opportunity to read and take part in the discussions on the four titles before casting their vote in a secret ballot in May.

Pupils will also be able to apply themselves creatively in designing alternative book jackets and blurb competitions.

A GLOW blog has also been set up to allow pupils from all eight participating secondary schools to share their thoughts on the books. All the titles are available to read in all school and public libraries.

The winning author will be announced at an award ceremony at Arbroath High School on June 5. The event is sponsored by Micro Librarian Systems, providers of the management system in all Angus secondary school libraries, and Scotia Books.
