Vics’ preparations continue

ARBROATH Vics continued their preparations for the forthcoming season with a friendly at home to Luncarty on Saturday.

The Perthshire side was drafted in as a replacement at the last minute when scheduled opponents Newburgh pulled out late on Thursday night.

Vics took only three minutes to open the scoring when MARC WALKER ran through to net, but 10 minutes later, Luncarty were level through RHYS DAVIES.

Vics edged in front again when latest signing, GRANT MOWATT, from Arbroath High School FPs, fired in and before the break. MARC WALKER was again on the scoresheet to give Vics a 3-1 lead.

Early in the second-half, CRAIG WATSON scored a fourth, but a quick Luncarty double by MURDO McIVER and RHYS DAVIES reduced the lead to 4-3.

Soon after, MARC WALKER completed his hat-trick to put Vics two goals ahead and before the close, CRAIG WATSON bagged his second of the afternoon to leave Vics 6-3 winners.

Vics have another home friendly tomorrow (Saturday) when they take on Bankfoot Athletic. Kick-off is at 2.30 p.m.
