A number of ADAC athletes competed at the Scottish Athletics Championship in Aberdeen Sports Village this weekend.

Eleven of the clubs athletes headed up to Aberdeen to join over one thousand competitors in the annual Scottish Age Group Championship. ADAC brought home eight medals and four Scottish titles as well as several big improvements in personal bests.

Rachel Broadfoot led the way on Saturday winning the Under-13 Girls Long Jump and gaining silver in the Discus and 70m hurdles where on the same day Gavin Lee won the Under-13 High Jump Bronze medal. Sunday saw Ellen Robertson win both the Under 20 High Jump and Triple Jump while Joel McFarlane won the Under 15 boys 80m Hurdles and silver in the Long Jump. Full ADAC results:

In the semi-finals of the mixed singles Dave Beattie won 21-11 against Ron Ritchie,the other going to Jim Arthur who beat Emma Philip 21-12

On Tuesday afternoon the Abbey team of Fred Cook, Tom Mill, Jim Arthur and Jim S. Paterson played Peterculter in the in the seniors inter county game and won 17-9.

Juniors: Abbey juniors will be taken part in the S.Y.B.A. area inter counties finals this Sunday , the competition starts at 10.00am and is at the Abbey.

NEWGATE LAdies Section

Champion of Champions

The ladies Champion of Championships Finals for 2014 took place at the Arbroath Club on the Saturday evening of August 16. Congratulations go to the Newgate pair of May Hutcheson and Margaret Cargill who put in a sterling performance to take the Pairs trophy back to the Newgate. Not so fortunate were the singles player Barbara Park and the triples team of Mary Burnett, Kathleen Swan and Linda Cargill who failed to make it past the semi-finals on Thursday (Aug. 13) at the Lochlands green.

Rae Perkins Trophy

The ladies gathered at the green on Sunday Aug. 17 to contest the Pairs competition for the Rae Perkins Trophy. At the end of play it was the pair of May Hutcheson and Barbara Park who took the honours over the pair of Linda Cargill and Ruth Ferguson.

Friendlies

On Tuesday (Aug 19) the ladies entertained the ladies from Letham in a two rink friendly. The Letham ladies were not in a friendly mood and returned home after winning both rinks.

Their next friendly is at home to Canmore on Wednesday September 3.

Jean Stewart Pairs

Next Friday September 5 the ladies gather at the green to contest the Jean Stewart Pairs Trophy. Lady members who intend playing in this competition please report to the clubrooms no later than 1.30.p.m.to enable the draw to take place for a 2.p.m. start.

Winter League

The Winter League Registration took place on Monday, August 25 in Cliffburn Hotel. We are at present unfortunately down to 18 teams for the forthcoming season.

We have decided to allow leeway in this as obviously we want as many teams participating as possible, therefore any teams who may have not realised when registration was or they forgot have until 8 p.m. on September 8 to register. Please contact Colin on 0794468716 if this is the case, thank you.
