Today (Friday) marked a historic day for golf in Carnoustie as one of the biggest projects to date was officially completed.
This morning the ‘Driving In’ of the two new holes at Buddon Links was carried out by Carnoustie Golf Links Management Committee chair Pat Sawers and head Buddon greenkeeper Steve Mitchell.
Angus Provost Helen Oswald was on hand to cut the ribbon and officially welcome golfers onto the new holes before guests repaired to the Golf Centre for a light reception.
Our video shows Pat taking the first ever official drive down the new 11th hole, which landed squarely in the middle of the fairway as tradition and good fortune demand.
There will be further updates online throughout the weekend and you can read a special feature on the redesigned course in next week’s paper.
