Arbroath United v R H Corstorphine
ARBROATH United Cricket Club’s senior side opened their season with a 40-over friendly against Edinburgh side RH Corstorphine.
This gave the Lochlands outfit valuable match practice before commencing their Scottish Cup campaign this week.
The game saw the introduction of Brendon Ford who played for Forfarshire last season and overseas amateur Hamish Bartlett.
Fraser Burnett (52, 3 fours, 3 sixes) and Ford (78, 9 fours) took the total to 147 in the 21st over when Burnett retired and Ford was dismissed by Myer in the following over. Bryce Carnegie (unbeaten 40, 4 fours) and Marc Petrie (37, 3 fours, 2 sixes) saw United close on 246 for 5.
When Corstorphine batted, the early bowlers kept them well behind the required run rate, Euan Small claimed an early wicket and when Ford dismissed Sathig in the 12th over they had reached 19.
Cameron Leader (51, 2 fours, 1 six) and Hatting (36, 4 fours, 1 six) took the total to 100 before Greig Peal (2 for 8) dismissed the latter in the 28th over and Leader fell to Ford (2 for 12) in the following over. United were able to use eight bowlers as the visitors closed on 150 for 6 with McCorkell unbeaten on 40 (5 fours), United winning by 96 runs.
