Arbroath Academy 0, Carnoustie Panbride (1) 8
After starting the season with a win and a defeat the Academy faced a tough match against Carnoustie Panbride.
Their opponents had been in the First Division last season when the Academy had been in the Third Division and had retained the same pool of players.
Following a late call off, Janet Wiltosz was drafted in. Carnoustie Panbride had former Academy player Alison Moir in their line-up.
Janet Wiltosz and Fiona Cameron were very unlucky to lose the first set against Sophie Law and Alison Moir but that was as close as they got. Jayne Smith made her first appearance of the season but when teaming up with Wiltosz they, too, were beaten.
The gents’ doubles started better with Grant Cargill and Steve Duncan playing well to take the first set against Nick Markowski and Ross Angus 21-16 before the Panbride pairing fought back to take the second set.
The second gents’ match went the way of the Carnoustie based outfit. After the level doubles the Academy were 3-0 down.
The mixed games also went strongly in favour of Carnoustie Panbride and they won all of them on the night.

Forfar and District Hillwalking Club headed to Aultguish bunkhouse at the weekend with 12 members and friends.
The weather forecast was not promising and most of the walkers had to abandon their plans on Saturday due to severe gales and heavy rain.
Two hardy souls made it to the summit of a hill in Strath Vaich.
As Sunday dawned clear and bright, the majority of the party had a good day out on Ben Wyvis and Little Wyvis.
Despite the foul conditions, everyone was in high spirits on the Saturday evening and a good time was had by all.
The next open meeting is on Monday (Decemeber 2)at 7.30 p.m. in the Queen Street Bar. It will be followed by a talk by David Sinclair on his recent trip to the Arctic Circle Trail in Greenland. Details at www.fdhwc.org
