Terry Ballantine and James Bates of Arbroath Boxing Club made the trip north to box in the Longmuir Hall at the Keith dinner show earlier this month.

Ballantine was matched against the more experience Clay Davidson in what turned out to be a very entertaining bout for the sell out crowd.

Terry was all action from the first bell boxing well behind his jab before unleashing four and five punch combinations. Davidson kept on marching forward with a tight guard having success of his own when he could pin down the elusive Ballantine.

The second started at a fast pace with both boxers exchanging heavy punches most off whichwere blocked but it was Ballantine who was getting the better of things finding a way through Davidson’s tight guard with hurtful punches which the Aberdeen man took well.

Ballantine came storming out for the third launching a sustained attack catching his opponent with hard hooks to the head and body.

Davidson came right back at Terry driving him across the ring but good lateral movement saw Terry slip out of trouble to finish the round the stronger.

It was a clear points win for the Arbroath boxer who is ontop form at the moment.

James Bates had to be content to watch as his bout was cancelled but he will get his chance to show his boxing skills at a future date.
