THERE is a three-way tie at the top of Division One in the Arbroath and District Pool League.

Portcullis 1, Cliffburn 1 and Ram’s Heid lead the way, six points ahead of Portcullis.

In Division Two, Bowlers and Westport Bar 1 are joint leaders, with Portcullis 3 only two points behind.

Fixtures

League pool takes a break this week to allow the commencement of the ADPL Knock-out Cup competition.

The following teams are seeded and are excluded from the first round draw: Cliffburn (1), Portcullis (1) and Ram’s Heid (2).

The following teams received a bye into the last 16: Letham (2), Newgate, Portcullis (2), Railway (2) and Station (2).

The draw for the first round is as follows: Railway (1) v Cliffburn (2); Portcullis (3) v West Port Bar (1); St Tams v Letham (1); Westport Bar (2) v Bowlers; Abbey v Ram’s Heid (1); Fishermans v Legion (3); Legion (2) v Station (1); Stag v Legion (1).

The winners from this round will go into the last 16 of the Knock-out Cup, while the losing teams will go on to form the Consolation Cup. It should be noted that any team which fails to fulfil their fixture will be excluded from the Consolation Cup.

A reminder that the cup format is nine singles and four doubles.

Results should be sent by text or ‘phoned in to the match secretary by the captain of the home team, upon completion of the match.

ADPL Kelbie Metals Singles and Doubles

Entries are now being taken for this year’s premium ADPL events, the Kelbie Metals Singles and Doubles. The entry fee remains at £3 per player for the singles and £4 per pair in the doubles.

Entry forms have been distributed to all captains, but are also available for download from the Arbroath Pool website. The deadline for entries for both competitions is Tuesday, November 27, at 7 p.m. All entries must be handed into the Ram’s Heid on the appropriate forms for the attention of the match secretary or treasurer or handed to them in person.
