Tam wins inaugural Seniors’ Open

THE FIRST Arbroath and District Pool League seniors’ event, sponsored by GM Properties Tayside, was played at the Portcullis on Saturday.

Tam Walkinshaw and George Fairweather contested the final. Tam had negotiated his way through the field defeating Steve Hallam 3-1 in the first semi-final. George, meanwhile, defeated Roy Middleton 3-2 in the other ‘semi’.

Both players had performed well throughout the day and an entertaining final was in prospect. George, however, found Tam to be in exceptional form and eventually succumbed to a 4-0 defeat.

Thanks were extended to Garry Mitchell of GM Properties (Tayside) for sponsoring the event and providing the trophies for the finalists and to George and Lorraine Williams of the Portcullis for being fantastic hosts.
