AT THE weekend a number of young swimmers from Arbroath St Thomas travelled to Stirling and Dunfermline to take part in meets.
Ally Morrison, Ashley Thomson and Blair Fotheringham competed in the Stirling Junior Open Meet. All swimmers smashed their previous best times and made a number of finals.
Ally and Ashley competed in the 11 years age group and Blair in the 13 years age group.
Ally won a gold medal in the backstroke, a bronze medal in the 100m front crawl, was fifth in the breaststroke in a very exciting race, just behind team-mate Ashley, and sixth in the fly.
Blair was fourth in the 200 IM, fifth in both the 100m and 200m front crawl, while Ashley was fourth in the breaststroke and sixth in the IM.
Sophie Smith (10) was the first swimmer from St Thomas off the blocks at the Carnegie Graded Meet and, with a personal best time, took fifth place in the eight-to-11 years 200 individual medley. She also took fourth in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly.
Matthew Michie (12), competing in the 12/13 age group, also notched up a number of PBs and Sarah Cummins secured fourth place in the girls’ 14-and-over indvidual medley, a silver medal in the 100m butterfly and fifth in the 100 fly.
Robert Allan (10), Ben Morrison (10) and Cameron Craig (9) all came home with substantial PB times.
Ethan Bell (14), competing in the 14-and-over age group, swam a nail-biting 100m front crawl to take fifth place. He also secured sixth place in the 100m butterfly.
Kirsty Thomson (13) also recorded a number of personal best times, as did Sophie Buick (13), despite only returning to training on Friday after illness.
