Arbroath and District Athletics Club entered two teams in the girls’ competitions at the Scottish Athletics U12 Superteams event
There were 23 team entries from locations across Scotland in the competition held at Grangemouth. The Arbroath girls’ performances were excellent with many personal bests set during the course of the day.
ADAC’s A Team finished the day in a magnificent fourth place where a blistering relay saw them bringing home the baton some 20 metres ahead of the remainder of the field.
ADAC B Team came home in 19th place showing that these young athletes have grown in strength during their summer training.

The same venue played host to the National Combined Events Championships which took place over two days.
ADAC senior athlete Michael Downie was the highest placed Scottish athlete in the competition. With two personal best performances, Michael set a new personal best points score and came home with the silver medal.
This performance has led to Michael being chosen to represent Scotland in the Combined Events Home Countries International which will take place in Stoke on August 3 and 4.
Michaels results were: 100m – 11.69: long-jump – 6.69: shot-putt – 12.37: high-jump – 1.90 (PB): 400m – 51.07 (PB): 110h – 15.99: discus – 36.42: pole-vault – 3.90: javelin – 46.86: 1500m – 4.35.29: points total, 6,731.
