THERE was another night of high drama in Arbroath and District Pool League Sidey Division One, this time at the bottom end of the table. There will be a play-off between Portcullis (2) and Portcullis (3) to decide who will be relegated to Division Two along with Legion (3).

This will take place on Tuesday (May 15) and the normal 8 p.m. sign-in applies. The venue will be confirmed to both team captains in due course. The format will be nine singles and four doubles. The winning captain must ensure the result is texted or ‘phoned to the match secretary at the end of the tie.

Elsewhere Cliffburn (1) secured the all-important point they required to take runners-up spot, with a 6-6 draw against Portcullis (1). The Railway Inn (1) secured fifth place in the table with yet another good home win against an experienced Legion (1) team.

In Division Two, St Tam’s did all they could to push the promotion place to the wire with a 7-5 win over Letham (2). Then the news filtered through that Station had won by the same scoreline and with that secured for them the second promotion place to Sidey Division One next season.

Legion (2) managed to finish off the season with a draw against Cliffburn (2) and stop the rot of 10 games without a point.
