Stars of the Future in action

At the weekend 10 St Thomas swimmers were in action taking part in the Dundee City Aquatics Stars of the Future meet.

This competition was the last ever gala to be held at the Olympia before the new pool opens in two weeks.

And St Thomas continued their recent run of excellent swimming achieving six golds, nine silvers, nine bronze medals and many personal bests (PB).

Sophie Smith won best girl, with four golds and a silver. Elle McMillian swam in all five finals, picking up two silver and three bronze medals.

There was a great effort by Blythe Brown who reached four finals and gained more PBs, while Hannah Coull also gained a bronze for her 50 free.

As always there was a very exciting 50m fly final from the 11-year-old boys; Robert Allan, George Cowan, Ben Morrison and Cameron Craig. They finished second, third, fourth and fifth place.

Well done to Ross Duncan who picked up a PB in his 50, breast final and Ally Morrison who won two golds and two silvers.

The gala ended on a high with St Thomas picking up enough points to put them in second place for the best club award.

This was just reward for the young swimmers’ efforts with them proving they are, indeed, Stars of the Future.

Entries for Open Championships to be held on Sunday, June 23, need to be with Scott by June 14.
