The final of the Chapel competition was won by Peter Speirs as he beat Bob Tosh by three sets to two.

Juniors: A very successful closing day was held last Sunday, which incorporated the last two finals. The Novice championship was a really good game between two much-improved novices providing entertainment for parents and spectators with Angus Burnett taking the match against Ryan Tosh. The Junior Championship was a keenly contested game in which both competitors played some excellent bowls. However, there has to be a winner and it was last year’s champion Kyale Ross who retained his title against Hazel Sime.

Ladies: The ladies completed their competitions for the season with the final of the Alice Laing singles which was won by Kitty Mulholland, who beat Emma Philip. The ladies closing day is tomorrow, those intending to play please report by 1 .45 p.m.

Newgate BC

Last Friday afternoon the annual challenge match between the Ladies and the Senior Gents took centre stage. The ladies were obviously in no mood for a friendly as they soundly overpowered any challenge from the men in a very convincing victory to take the trophy which was presented to Lady President Pat Smith by the Gents Team Captain Ken Swan.
