Scottish League win for Indoor Club gents

ARBROATH Indoor Bowling Club’s gents’ team faced Gairoch in their latest Scottish League match.

As has happened before, Arbroath were nine shots in arrears after the first end, but they fought back strongly and after three ends the scores were level at 15 shots each.

At the end of the first quarter, Gairoch had nudged ahead to lead by three shots but in a see-saw match Arbroath led by a single shot at the halfway stage.

The outcome remained very much in question and at the three-quarter point Arbroath were ahead by four shots.

In the final quarter, with both teams going all out for the win, Arbroath added to their advantage and won by 10 shots.

Ladies’ section

The Arbroath ladies’ Scottish League team travelled to Perth on Saturday knowing that a win would put them in an unassailable position at the top of Section A in the Premier Division.

The started off tentatively and after five ends were three shots down. However, after 10 ends, they had turned that around and were six shots in front.

They then began to push and after 15 ends held a 12-shot advantage. At 18 ends they were 27 shots ahead and after 21 ends they had a 32-shot lead.
