An Arbroath archer set a new Scottish record last Sunday while competing in a Stafford Shoot competition at HMS Neptune, Faslane.
Sarah Fraser, a member of Abbey Archers, won the under-18 girls’ recurve category. She achieved 578 points from a possible total of 720 to win the event and set a new Scottish record.
Another Arbroath competitor, Mark Gammie, who is also a member of the Abbey Archers, was first in the compound category, scoring 669 points out of a possible 720.
A Stafford Shoot allows each competitor 72 arrows at a range of 30 yards from the target.
Abbey Archers meet at Arbroath Sports Centre and anyone interested in joining the club should contact either the Sports Centre or Les Shepherd on 878794.
