Arbroath’s Ryan Burnett has been named by Bowls Scotland as part of their 2015 Junior World Championships team.

Ryan, who won two silver medals, will rejoin his team-mates, Kevin Anderson (Dumbarton) and Lesley Doig (Strathmiglo) from the Scottish team’s successful run at the Junior World Championships at Broadbeach Bowling Club, Australia, which saw them return with seven out of a possible eight medals.

However Stacey Laidlaw (Dalkeith), who won a silver and a bronze medal for the team last month, is not available to compete for a second time around.

Laidlaw will be replaced by Kimberley Harrison (Carluke), who will partner Ryan in the mixed pairs as well as playing singles.

The team will once again be managed by Ricky Taylor, team manager for Scotland’s Glasgow 2014 Games bowls team. Preparing to compete on the fast greens of Broadbeach will again feature heavily in his plans over the winter months.

“The team played fabulous bowls throughout this year’s Junior World Championships, exceeding our expectations with seven medals,” said Taylor.

“We have selected a great team of players for the 2015 competition who I believe will come back with medals.

“We will be working hard over the coming months to ensure that we are once again fully prepared to play to the best of our abilities.”
