ADPL Grassroots

This year’s Arbroath and District Pool League Grassroots competition will be played on Saturday, November 3, at the Cliffburn Hotel. If the entries are similar to last year’s then the draw will be timed with the first session starting at 9.30 a.m. The entry fee remains at just £3, offering players great value for money.

The deadline for entries is Tuesday, October 30, to allow the draw to be carried out in advance.

This event is open to all up-and-coming registered players from all teams and to encourage as high an entry as possible the following top players are not eligible to enter - Greg Alexander, Graham Dunbar, Garry Mitchell, Davy Jack, Dave McFarlane, Gordon Dickson, Roy Middleton, Steve Hamilton, Paddy Nicoll, Jonathan Cargill, Martin Cherry, Gordon Smith, Steve Hallam, Stuart Smith, Gareth Ruxton, Andrew Braid, Steve Webster, George Fairweather, Dale Leith, Davie Williams, Mark McGlashan, Colin Brown, John Fotheringham, Tam Walkingshaw, Gary McLeish, Ian Anderson and John Maud.

Individual Membership

A total of 42 players entered the Individual Membership tour last season and Arbroath and District Pool League found it encouraging to have such a positive response from those players that entered.

The league, therefore, wishes to continue promoting this more widely among all interested players. This is a great opportunity for players to improve their skills and compete at the highest levels in Scotland. To that end, entries are being invited for any interested player to join next season’s tour.

The IM tour has been reviewed for the 2013 season and the number of events has increased from five to seven, each event carrying ranking points. As a result, the fee has increased to £30 (previously £25).

The Scottish Singles is also included in the ranking scoring system. This costs a further £5 to enter and will be collected separately. Each player receives a ranking score based upon on their best six events out of the eight events mentioned.

There are local qualifiers held for each event and these are drawn by the SPA and sent to each IM representative. After this, the local players are permitted to arrange their own matches between themselves at a mutually agreed time and venue. The only stipulation is the match must be played before a pre-determined deadline.

The deadline for submission of names, £30 fees and contact e-mail information is Saturday, December 1, 2012. Any interested players should contact Michael Bastow in the first instance for more information or visit the SPA website at www.scottishpool.com.
