Scottish Pool Association Super 11s
The SPA AGM is this Sunday (January 9) in Rosyth. At the moment the ADPL have already entered three 12-man teams and they are actively looking to see whether there is have enough committed interest for a fourth team.
There is a dedicated thread on this subject on the website - www.arbroath.scottishpool.net - and so far there are 55 interested players. If anyone else would like to be considered, please go online and register your interest before Sunday or get in touch with any member of the selection committee (Steve Webster, Gordon Smith and Roy Middleton).
The committee will meet on Monday (January 10) at 7.30 p.m. in the Legion.
The first major event of the season, the Tayside Singles, will take place on Saturday, January 15, at the Old Mill in Dundee. Entry fee is only £5 and it is hoped Arbroath can support this by taking a large contingent.
Again there is a dedicated thread on the website for names and so far 16 names are committed.
The Knock-out Cup games that were cancelled twice due to the recent bad weather have been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 26.
They are: Letham Hotel 1 v Ship Inn; Railway Inn 1 v Legion 1; Stag v Railway Inn 2.
Results are to be ‘phoned in to the usual pool mobile. The cup format is nine singles and four doubles.
Strachan’s Supremos Singles
This event has been added to the calendar and will take place on Sunday, February 6, at the Portcullis. This is the day after the Wattyscues Masters invitational event and is open to all other players who are not involved in the Masters. The final format is yet to be decided but will be announced soon.
