Entries for the Scottish Pool Association singles and doubles competitions are now being taken.
Players should note the entry fee for the singles has been increased to £10 per player (previously £5). However, those players who are members of the IM Series this year will receive a £5 rebate. The doubles entry fee remains at £10 per double.
Players are reminded that the closing date for Arbroath entries to these events is tomorrow (Saturday). Although the qualifiers and national finals are still sometime away players cannot be entered after this date.
Entries for both competitions should be handed to Michael Bastow or Roy Middleton direct or handed in to the Ram’s Heid in a sealed envelope for their attention. Anyone handing monies in should clearly mark who the money is from and inform Michael that they have dropped their entry fee off.
This year’s Super 15s Premier and First Division events will be held at Haven, Craig Tara, Ayr over the weekend of November 8, 9 and 10. The Second Division event will be held at Pettycur Bay, Kinghorn, Fife, over the weekend of November 15, 16 and 17.
As yet, the teams do not know where they will be travelling and as such players are asked to make themselves available for both weekends.
Arbroath and District Pool League has to inform the SPA at the July meeting on the number of teams it wants to enter. Teams will not be permitted to enter after this date.
Again, similar to the Super 11s, players are being asked for a commitment to these events and as such a £20 ‘non-refundable’ deposit is required. If you are subsequently not selected for any of the teams you will get your money refunded. If a player withdraws after being selected then they will lose their deposit.
The league needs to start gathering interest for the Arbroath teams. The interest list will close on Saturday, June 29. The names will be collated and passed to the selection committee for team selections. Any player interested or those who have any questions please contact the match secretary Michael Bastow on 07921 722033.
UK Open qualifiers
Arbroath and District Pool League will run two qualifying events for the Ladbrokes UK Open Championships, which will be held at the Normandy Hotel, Renfrewshire, over the weekend of September 21 and 22. A prize fund of over £13,000 has been guaranteed.
The winners of each qualifying event will receive free entry to the Ladbrokes UK Open, worth £100, and a free overnight stay on the Saturday with bed and breakfast at the Normandy Hotel or sister hotel, Erskine Bridge Hotel, worth £45.
Entry will be £10 which will allow players entry into both qualifying events (i.e. £5 per event but payable in advance of the first qualifying event). Players who miss the first qualifier, and miss the entry deadline, can still enter the second qualifier but at the enhanced rate of £10 for that event.
More details will be announced in due course.
