Personal bests for local athletes

A NUMBER of Arbroath and District Athletic Club members travelled to the new Emirates Indoor Athletics Stadium, Glasgow, at the weekend where several events took place.

They were involved in the Under-12 Superteams, Scottish Combined Events Championships and the Masters Championships.

There were many excellent performances on the day and many new indoor personal bests were set, most notably by Anna Robertson who set four new PBs in the pentathlon and Michael Downie who set six new PBs in the senior men’s heptathlon.

ADAC results were:

Under-16, girls, pentathlon – Anna Robertson, 60mh – 10.89; long jump – 4.58; shot putt – 7.00; high jump – 1.42; 800m – 2.47.21.

Under-18, women, pentathlon – Ellen Robertson, 60mh – 11.36; high jump – 1.55; shot putt – 8.25; long jump – 4.54; 800m – 2.36.58.

Senior men, heptathlon – Michael Downie, 60m – 7.46; 60mh – 8.58; long jump – NJ; shot putt – 13.30; high jump – 1.86; pole vault – 3.92; 1000m – 2.50.

Masters, Fiona Lampkin, 60mh – 11.63: triple jump – 8.64.

Arbroath also had three teams entered in the Superteam competition and for some athletes this was their first time competing at this level. All enjoyed the day and again some excellent performances came to the fore.
