On hunt for treasure

ON SATURDAY two teams of Footers ran the club’s Christmas treasure hunt. The event, organised by Mary Towns, had the teams running around Arbroath looking for answers to clues and also gathering as many signatures as possible on T-shirts worn by Footers.

The winning team was the Christmas Crackers comprising Ian Beattie, Steve Dear, Christine Bird and Pamela Brandie. Runners-up were Tina’s Boys - Gerry Austin, Sandy Burgess, Alan McDonald, Chris Elliot and Tina Fowler.

Thanks were extended to Mary and all the people who signed the T-shirts.

The previous Saturday, the club held its Christmas party and prize-giving ceremony at the Meadowbank. Winners were: Open Male Race Series, Ian Beattie; Open Female Race Series, Beth Christie; Male Veteran Race Series, Steve Dear; Female Veteran Race Series, Pamela Brandie; Male Most Improved, Gerry Austin; Female Most Improved, Beth Christie; Bill Powell Race Trophies, Ian Beattie and Pamela Brandie; Bill Stoddart Race Trophy, Lisa Lawrence; Best Newcomer, Mary Towns; Club Person of the Year, Christine Bird.

There were also two novelty prizes. The Jet Setter for most miles travelled to do races went to Chris Elliot and The Cut Off Award for taking short cuts on training sessions to Tina Fowler.
