A BOXER whose family hail from Friockheim won his seventh professional fight on Saturday to take the British Welterweight Masters title.

Neil Beevers, whose mum Margaret is from Friockheim but now lives in Barnsley, defeated Sean McKervey in the third round to take the belt.

However there is no rest for Neil, who has aunts, uncles and cousins living in the area, as he has been back in the gym this week preparing for a Central Area title fight against Manchester’s Chris Johnson.
