Saturday saw the Musketeers junior men travel to face Dunfermline Reign in their season opener.
There were easy scoring opportunities for guards Sim and Mark Myers in transition. The Reign team were not despondent and forward Cameron Boggan was tough to defend inside. The quarter ended 16 to 22 to the Muskies.
In the second quarter Spink was unstoppable, penetrating to the basket and scoring or passing inside. The quarter saw some of the Muskies’ best passing and led to seven Muskies on the scoresheet including guard Ross Walker. The Musketeers ended the half 27 to 56.
In the third quarter the Muskies worked on perfecting their offence. Guard Duncan Patullo created opportunities by effectively setting screens, and guard Sim finding the open player at every opportunity. Guard Harris had his biggest scoring quarter through cutting to the basket at every opportunity. The third quarter ended 49 to 85 Muskies.
The fourth quarter saw Patullo have his biggest scoring quarter and all Musketeers gaining valuable court time. The last quarter saw the team have the opportunity to run through their offences to identify weaknesses. The quarter ended as the Muskies ran out winners 62 to 103.
The juniors face a tough home test against St Mirren tomorrow (Saturday) at Arbroath Sports Centre.
