Men’s League matches start on Monday

ARBROATH and District Men’s Darts League, sponsored by Colin M Smith, will open with matches on Monday night and will continue through to Saturday, June 2, when the finals and presentations take place.

Fixtures are as follows:

Premier Division: Burns Bar (1) v Fishermans (1); Station (2), bye; Fishermans (2) v Ram’s Heid (1); Portcullis v Burns Bar (2).

First Division: Abbey v Legion; Millgate v Cliffburn (1); West Port Bar v Corner Bar; Commercial (L) v St Tams.

Second Division: Bowlers (1) v West Port Lounge; Cliffburn (2) v Station (1); Pageant v Lorne; Ram’s Heid (2) v Bowlers (2).

Knock-out Cup

Opening ties in the Knock-out Cup competition will be played on Wednesday with 14 teams involved.

Preliminary round fixtures are: Abbey v Bowlers (1); Legion v West Port Bar; Lorne v Fishermans (2); Commercial (L) v Ram’s Heid (2); StTams v Fishermans (1); Pageant v Burns Bar (2); Portcullis v Burns Bar (1).

Bellrock Open

This year’s Bellrock Open will be played on Saturday, November 12, at The Red lion Holiday Park, Arbroath. Alan Soutar is now taking entries for the men’s and women’s events. Entry is £10 for men and £7 for women. There is strictly no entry on the day.

The men’s winner will receive £501 plus a trophy and the women’s winner will receive £150 plus a trophy.

There are already three men in the draw who have played at Lakeside so it’s a great chance for local players to play some of the best players in Scotland and the world.

Scottish Doubles

A minibus will leave Arbroath Bus Station at 10 a.m. on Saturday for Bannockburn for the Scottish Doubles finals. Price for the bus is £10 per person and all players are reminded that trousers and shoes must be worn.

Bowlers Bar Open - Mixed Doubles

The Bowlers Bar Open mixed doubles competition takes place on Sunday (October 23). Entry is £4 per pair on the day.

There is a £250 prize pot plus trophies for the main event and there will also be a first-round losers’ competition.

Players sign in by 1 p.m. and toe the oche at 1.30.

ONLY two teams retained 100 per cent records in Arbroath and district Ladies’ Darts League after four games played.

They are Fisherman’s who lead Division one and Ship, at the top of Division three.

Lorne lead Division two having dropped just one point.
