PORTCULLIS (1) and Cliffburn (1) retain their grip at the top of Division One of Arbroath and District Pool League after a head to head on Tuesday which ended in a draw.

Ram’s Heid (2) made up a bit of ground thanks to their home win over Letham (1).

In Division Two, Bowlers recorded a home victory over West Port (2) to maintain their title hope while Portcullis (3), Legion (3), St Tam’s, Fishermans and West Port Bar (2) are all close behind.

Forfar Open

The first Forfar Open singles competition will be held on Saturday, May 4, at the Royal British Legion Scotland, Forfar. Entry is £5 per player. It will be a timed draw with sign-in times of 11.30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The deadline for entries is Tuesday, April 30, to allow the draw to be carried out in advance. The draw will then be posted online.

The competition will be restricted to 64 entries. The tournament will be played to SPA Blackball rules and the tournament director reserves the right to introduce the ‘one minute’ rule if it is deemed to be required. Similar to other tournaments, players will referee their own matches.

Portcullis Singles

This year’s Portcullis Singles event will be held on Saturday, May 11. No entries will be taken on the day. Deadline for entries will be Tuesday, May 7, which is the date of the last league fixtures, to allow draw and timings to be finalised.

Entry Fee is £5 per player. Start time for first ties is totally dependent on entries but may be 9.30 a.m. prompt. The draw will be posted online.

The draw will provide a guide-only for timings. It is the player’s responsibility to be in attendance in good time before their name is called. Once your name is called, however, if you are not present, you will be docked one frame per minute until you either appear or are knocked out by default.

Prize money will be dependent on total entries but as a guide has previously been £150 to the winner, who will also receive a trophy. This competition is restricted to ADPL registered players only. For more information contact Steve Webster on 07585 441095.

IM2 finals

Tam Walkingshaw, Davie Williams, Greg Alexander and Steve Webster have all qualified for the IM#2 National Finals which are being held this weekend at The Red Triangle, Cumbernauld.

Committee meeting

There will be a committee meeting on Monday (April 22) at 7.30 p.m. in the Legion clubrooms. Full committee attendance is required.
