Arbroath Tennis Professional Jonny O’Mara came through a strong field last week to win the Aegon British Tour Title at Bournemouth, losing only one set all week.
This was only Jonny’s second tournament of the new season and gave him some much needed match practice and confidence before he sets off next week for two tournaments in Croatia.
Jonny spoke to the Arbroath Herald: “2015 is a big year for me, it’s really tough trying to break into the bigger tournaments, that’s where the big prize money is, but first I’ll need to make some progress up the rankings on the Challenger Tour, where the standard is incredibly high but rewards much smaller.
“It’s tough to even cover your expenses but that’s the only way to gain the ranking points you need. “Croatia is a place I love playing and I have already won a lot of my current world ranking points out there.”
Jonny also added that he loves representing his hometown of Arbroath and Scotland on his travels and really appreciates the many messages of support he gets from friends and his local sponsors.
