Rising Arbroath tennis star Jonny O’Mara is through to the third round of Junior Wimbledon after winning his second round tie in straight sets this afternoon (Tuesday).
The 18-year-old was up against 11th seed Pedro Cachin of Argentina on court nine and ran out a 7-6, 6-2 winner.
Jonny will be back out on court tomorrow (Wednesday) for his third round encounter, which is set to be a tough one as he will face British counterpart and number five seed Kyle Edmund, who also won in straight sets.
Yesterday (Monday) Jonny defeated his French opponent, Maxime Janvier 7-6, 5-7, 9-7 on Court 19 to claim his first win at the All England Club.
And tweeting last night, local lad Jonny was grateful for all the home support he has been receiving since the boy’s singles tournament began yesterday.
He wrote: “Lovvvvved it today! Got the win 9-7 in the 3rd! Thanks to the people watching and for the messages! Meant a lot!”
