ARBROATH tennis ace Jonny O’Mara was handed a wild card to lead the home charge in the men’s singles event at the Aegon GB Pro-Series in Glasgow this week.

The 17-year-old was given a tough first round match when he was drawn to take on experienced Frenchman Mathieu Rodrigues.

Also in the draw for the men’s singles were some top class names such as Marko Djokovic, younger brother of world number one Novak and Germany’s Richard Becker, although no relation to Boris.

But unfortunately for Jonny, the Frenchman proved too strong on Tuesday, and was has condemned to a three set defeat 7-5, 2-6, 6-3.

Play will run at the Scotstoun venue until Sunday.
