THE COMMITTEE of Arbroath Indoor Bowling Club has called a special general meeting of club members to be held on Friday, March 18, to discuss options concerning summer opening.
It had been suggested that the club should close from the end of April to August as a means of saving money.
During the summer months the facility remains open, with all the cost implications that entails, but is little used. A notice went up two weeks ago suggesting that the closure plan be implemented.
However, some of the older members of the club had pointed out that their membership entitled them to full usage of the facilities throughout the year and if it was to be closed for three or four months they would lose a quarter or a third of what they had previously been entitled to, without any reduction in fees.
