IAN JOLLY retains his top spot in the Arbroath Masters Blue League despite not having played on Monday. Those in joint second place, Andy Stott and John Barr, both won their matches to reduce the leeway.

In the Red League Alan Soutar maintained his 100 per cent record with a win over Darren Hay and his two-point advantage at the top of the table. Willie Burness is in second place with Mark Thomson in third, a further two points behind.

Steven Green leads the Green League with another 100 per cent record and his nearest challenger is Kevin Whyte four points behind. Rikki Baker and Ian Christie share third place with 10 points.

Bob Beattie and Michael Jones share the lead in the Yellow League with 14 points each with three players, Gus McRae, Ally Forsyth and Bill Stirling, in the chasing pack with eight points each.

Masters finals day

The finals of the Arbroath Masters will be played in Coast Nightclub on Saturday, September 17, from 2 p.m. Players should register with Total Darts Promotions by 1.30 p.m.

Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge on the day.

Lakeside Qualifiers

The Angus qualifiers for the Lakeside International play-off will take place on Saturday, August 13, at the Red Lion. One man and one woman from Angus will qualify to play in the Lakeside qualifier in Hull on Friday, September 2. Alan Soutar has already qualified for the Hull event. £5 entry on the day.

Only players from leagues affiliated to Angus are eligible to play.

Gary Anderson exhibition

Local darts players and fans will be treated to an evening of top class darts tomorrow night (Saturday) when PDC Premier League Champion Gary Anderson will be playing against local players in the Community Centre.

Doors open for VIP ticket holders only at 6 p.m. For the main event the doors will open at 7.15 for an 8 p.m. start. All tickets must be presented at the door. They will be checked and stamped.

There will be a bar inside the venue on the night. No alcohol will be permitted to be taken into the venue and door staff will be carrying out checks.
