On Sunday, December 15, 16 members of Forfar and District Hillwalking Club met in Glen Lethnot for a pre-Christmas walk circular walk.
Starting from the parking spot just beyond Craigendowie, the group headed up the stalkers’ path skirting past Craig Duchrey, over Tamhilt 537m and Hill of Mondurran 602m.
After taking a welcome break from the icy wind in a stalkers’ hut, two members headed back the same way to the cars and the rest of the group continued the circuit by Hill of Garbet 581m, Laidwinley, Shank of Ducharr and Nathro.
The day was cold with icy wind in exposed areas however there were reasonable views of the surroundings areas. The total distance covered was approximately nine miles and 5.5 hours.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, January 16, at 8 p.m. at the Star Inn Friockheim. The speaker will be Angus Whitson, local author and The Courier columnist ‘Man with Two Dogs’. Members and non-members most welcome.
The club walk on Sunday, January 19, is to Glen Moy. Anyone wishing to attend should contact the Secretary on 01575 575206.
