Abbey Bowling Club’s ladies’ section Giddings & Lewis singles semi-finals produced two very good games.
Emma Philip and Karen Farmer had nothing seperating them until the game was drawn at 11 all at which point Karen started to pull away to lead by eight shots. Although Emma took the next three ends it wasn’t enough as Karen got the two shots required to win 21-15.
In the other game, Kathleen Gordon’s experience told. A valiant effort by her opponent, Norma Dunsmore failed to prevent Kathleen winning 21-11.
The semi-final of the May Knox singles was won by Ely Marnie, who defeated Emma Philip 21-20 to set up the final between herself and Davina McGregor. The latter caught the green better going on to win 21-13.
The midweek friendly was away to Broughty B/C which saw Janette Tosh’s rink win 20-13 and Nina Sibley’s rink lose 14-6 to give victory to Broughty 27-26.
A midweek friendly away to Lochee was thoroughly enjoyed by all with Abbey winning the game.

The final was disappointing as it turned out to be a one sided affair which saw Luke and Robert play below par while their opponents Ken and Ian played very well to win 13-5.
