Fisherman’s (2) marching on

FISHERMAN’S (2) maintained their 100 percent record on Monday night with a whitewash over Ram’s Heid (1) and still have their four-point lead at the top of the Premier Division. Second-placed Burns Bar (1) also recorded a good home win over Fisherman’s (1).

In the First Division, Abbey won comfortably against Legion to hold on to their seven-point advantage with Cliffburn (1) and Commercial (L), leaders of the chasing pack, also recording good victories.

Bowlers (1) maintained their good form in the Second Division, recording a comfortable home win over West Port Lounge to hold on to their lead, while Lorne won comfortably at the Pageant and leapfrogged Cliffburn (2), who were defeated at home by Station, into second place.

Captains’ Cup

The qualifying matches for the Captains Cup competition will be played on Wednesday night in the Abbey Inn. Captains should register with venue referee Shaun Berrie before 8 p.m.

The Angus Men’s Super League continues tonight with the second round of matches. Arbroath A team is at home to Forfar and players should be at the Fisherman’s for 7.30 p.m.

Arbroath B team is away to Laurencekirk and all players should be at Bowlers Bar for the minibus by 7 p.m.

Darts Academy

The first Angus Darts Academy knock-out competition will take place on Sunday in the Cafe Project. Doors will open at 12 noon and players should register to play by 1 p.m. The darts competitions will start at 1.30 p.m.

Entry will be £2 per player with the winners receiving Blade 4 dartboards as prizes.

There will be three separate competitions, for under-13s, under-15s and over-15s.

Entry is open to any players aged between 10 and 21 years even if you are not a member of the Darts Academy.

Arbroath Masters

The qualifiers for the Arbroath Masters will be held in Coast Nightclub on Saturday, April 7. This will be a round-robin event played in group stages to allow players to qualify for the Masters main event in the summer. Entry for the Q School is free and open to any player.

NERVES appear to be creeping in as Arbroath and District Ladies’ Darts League Division One nears a conclusion.

On Thursday, leaders Pageant (2) dropped a point when they were held to a draw at home by Millgate. But second placed Bowlers failed to take advantage and were defeated in an away match at Cricket Club, meaning Pageant (2) extended their lead at the top to two points.

In the chasing pack, Cricket Club’s good home win over Bowlers saw them overtake Fisherman’s who went down at home to Pageant (1).
