The team of eight, captained by Mary Summers, won 6.5-2.5, at Montrose Links, in the title-decider match between the only two teams with 100 per cent records after two days’ play.

After the morning foursomes were shared, the Angus team outfought their older and more experienced opponents, winning 5-1 in the singles. Jessica Meek got them off to a winning start when she beat Gabrielle MacDonald 6 and 4 followed by Angus County Champion, Ailsa Summers who won the top singles match against Jane Turner by 2 and 1, with an eagle three at the 17th.

Heather Munro then chalked up another point with a 3 and 2 victory over Claire Hargan before Ann Ramsay, who was the ‘MVP’ of the tournament, winning all of her six ties, scored her sixth win at the expense of Louise Fraser, beating her 2 and 1. Gemma Chalmers went on to beat Wendy Nicholson by one hole before Midlothian’s Karen Marshall had a one hole victory over Rebecca Wilson.
