David wins spring competition

DAVID Forbes was the winner of Arbroath Artisan Golf Club’s Four Seasons (spring) competition played at Elliot on Saturday. There was an entry of 116.

Results were: scratch to seven - A. Fairweather (5) 70; E.G. Rae (5) 71 (bih); L. Strachan (5) 71; I. Reid (2) 72 (bih). Eight to 12 - D.W. Forbes (12) 67; D. Smith (9) 68 (bih); M. Wood (9) 68; C. Sunday Sweep: There was an entry of 40 for the Sunday Sweep, which was played to a CSS of 68.

Letham Grange

A FANTASTIC weekend of golf was held at Letham Grange with the Captain’s Drive In Texas Scramble on Saturday and the Four Ball Better Ball Open on the Old Course on Sunday.

Thirty-five teams enjoyed the spring sunshine.

Four Ball Better Ball Open, 84 two man teams, net results – 1, R. Marshall and A. MacDonald, net 67 (Letham Grange); 2, Mr Jones and Mr Smith, net 68 (Kirkintilloch); 3, R. Walker and Jason Dall 69, (Letham Grange). Gross – 1, G. Tough and I. Reid Gross, 70; 2, P. Teviotdale and S. Cargill, 71 (Arbroath Artisans).

Thanks to the donations from the members and guests who guessed where the ceremonial drives of the captain Gardiner Arthur and lady club champion Angela Crabb would end up, the club will donate £147 collected to the lady captain’s choice of charity for 2013, The MS Society.
