ARBROATH drift racer David Waterworth recently took part in the 2013 Autosport Motorshow at the NEC in Birmingham.
David’s car was one of four that were chosen to be on display from over 100 cars to represent the growing sport of drifting at the British Drift Championship stand.
Here David also revealed the new colour scheme of red and black and the new engine conversion he has been testing and drove in competition as a testing season last year when he finished 12 out of 30.
David explained that the part that is really special, is that the engine is normally found in the Dodge Viper, but now it can be found the race car which he is currently driving.
It is a 500 horsepower, eight litre V10 and is the only conversion of this type to be done in the world, built by David and his family.
He said: “I will be competing the full length of the UK this year, the closest being Knockhill and the furthest being Lydden Hill near London with a maximum journey one way being around 550 miles.
“But as the sport has gripped me for eight years now and with the continued support of the current local sponsors of those from the past, I couldn’t be at the stage that I am without them and I’m thankful for that.”
Coverage of the up an coming drift racing season is set to be televised this year.
