Eight members of Arbroath Angling Club made their way up Glen Isla last Sunday to fish Lintrathen.

Weather conditions on the day were not too bad. With the sun breaking through and a light wind blowing, things looked good for a trout or two.

Most boats made their way down to the sawmill end of the water where, as usual, the stocked rainbows were to be found in the shallow bay that seems to provide some feeding for the trout due to the weed beds that grow there.

Winner on the day with three trout was Jim Thompson with a weight of 6lbs 13oz. Second was George Gall, also three, at 6lbs 6oz third. Also with three was Scott McGregor, 5lbs. Fourth was Les Shepherd, two at 3lbs 12oz, fifth was Malc Gall, one at 2lbs and sixth was Stan Nicol, one at 1lb 8oz.

The next competition for anglers is up to Loch Lee on Sunday (May 25).

Lintrathen is still fishing well and with the water temperature rising, there are a lot more fish showing on the surface from mid morning onwards.

One angler having a nice rainbow out at 4lbs 6ozs.

The evening sessions have started and good catches are being reported.

Anglers are still taking fish below the surface with cormorants, yellow dancers and diawl bachs. Small dark flies and traditional wets are proving best on top of the water.

A Friday Night League is to be fished over June, July and August with a trophy and prizes. Any anglers who want to participate should contact Gav Ferguson on 07834407224 or Jim Hardie on 01575-572412 for details.
