Preparations for Arbroath Amateur Boxing Club’s Boxing Show in the Community Centre, Marketgate, on Friday, November 29, are now almost complete.
A total of 14 bouts have been organised so it is sure to be a busy night from a sporting perspective. Tickets are selling well but some are still available from any boxer or committee member, and the price of only £10 makes it a good deal for an action packed night.
This will be the first show in Arbroath to be boxed under the new scoring system, so new ground will be broken once more by the club.
Four of the club members are travelling to Inverurie tomorrow (Saturday), to take part in the North District Senior Novice and Open Championships. Mark Fairweather and Darren Foster are competing in the Open class, while Barry MacDonald and Max Butterworth are in the novice, under six contests, class.
All four are quietly confident having worked hard at their training regime, with some excellent sparring provided by 45 Commando, who are also preparing for their championships to be held at Condor in December, and have been sharpening up with some extra training in the Arbroath club.
The next week will be action packed for all Arbroath boxers and officials, with a growing and improving squad of young, keen and committed boxers.
Sports fans are urged to go along and support a busy and vibrant club in their first event of the season.
