Gents Rinks Final
The final of the gents rinks was played on Friday, August 15 with the rink of Sean Jarret, Dave Ferguson, Ray Anderson and Eric Milne taking on the rink of Dave Spalding, Bruce Miller, Paul Carnegie and Graeme Stewart.
The rink skipped by Graeme Stewart started off the better of the two teams but as the game progressed Eric Milne inspired his team to improve their performance and the game went into the last end at 16 shots each.
The advantage changed on several occasions during the final end but it was the bowls of the rink skipped by Eric Milne that lay closest to the jack at the end of play to give them a hard earned victory and the title honours.
The Newgate team of Tom Reid, Eric Martin, Graeme Stewart and Paul Martin travelled to Hillside on Thursday August 14 to contest the final of the Hutchison Trophy against the team from Drumlithie. After mastering the conditions of the green the Newgate team buckled down and earned the victory to take the trophy back to Newgate by 16 shots to 7.
Gents Singles Final
The final of the gents singles was played last Friday evening between Eric Martin and Paul Carnegie. The players were evenly matched till mid way through when Paul began to take control of the game and ran out a worthy winner by 21 shots to 12.
Gents Pairs Final
The final of the gents pairs was played last Monday evening between the pair of Alex Cargill and Mike Flynn and the pair of Ronnie Beattie and Eric Milne. Both pairs played some excellent bowls throughout the game and at the completion of the final end both pairs were level on 16 shots each forcing the game into an extra end. The advantage changed on several occasions before the bowl of Eric Milne lay closest to the jack at the end of play to give Ronnie and Eric the title.
On Saturday August 16 the home game with Hillcrest was cancelled. The away game went ahead at Carnoustie and the result ended in a comfortable victory for Newgate.

The friendlies for last Saturday were at home to Kirriemuir sponsored by Plumb Centre and away to Montrose. The home team recorded a comfortable victory but the away team returned having been soundly beaten.

Newgate Open Pairs
The Annual Open Pairs Competition took place last Sunday. The weather was kind and the competition was played out in perfect bowling conditions. At the end of the days play the pair of Margaret Cargill and Sye Pearson got the better of Billy Cadger and Graham Skelton in the final to take the honours.

Gents Town Championships
The semi-finals of the Gents Town Championships were played last Wednesday. All the Newgate teams were drawn to play at the Abbey green . The finals take place this Saturday at the Lochlands green with a 2.30.p.m start. Dress for players is greys and whites with club ties to be worn.
Parkview Blind Six Competition.
Last Saturday afternoon the Newgate were represented by Sandy Smith, Jim Butler, Dave Ferguson, Irene Hill, Ruth Ferguson and Norma Spence . The competition involved three other teams from Dudhope ,Monifieth and Parkview and involved a variety of competitions with singles, pairs and triples played throughout the afternoon. The Newgate team qualified for the final but were narrowly beaten by the team from Monifieth.
Club Round Robin
The Club Round Robin takes place on Sunday September 7. Members who intend taking part please add their names to the notice in the clubrooms.
Monday Points League
The league leaders at the moment with 4 games to go are Scott Sibley 25, Bob Spence 21 , Tom Reid 20 and Alex Cargill and Tom Cargill both on 17. With a maximum of 12 points up for grabs over the remaining four games there is still time for changes at the top.
