Final week

With the final week of the season coming up, the pressure is off at the top, as all three league winners are now decided, with Lochlands 1 still maintaining their 100 per cent record in C.

B and C runners-up spots are also decided, but it is still open to any of the teams in second and third spots in A to get there.

Relegation spots in A and B are not decided yet with only the bottom spot certain.

Depending on the last results it could actually mean a play-off to decide who the second relegation spot goes to, as in the result of a tie in points, the play-off is required to make the decision.

Tennis

Open Day

After many weeks of preparing the courts for the season ahead, Arbroath Tennis Club held an open day to encourage new players to the game and welcome back the regulars.

Children and adults were invited to have a free lesson from the club coach. More than 60 people turned up on the day and for more than three hours they were actively engaged on the courts having a wonderful time.

Coach Rhiann Livingstone put the younger children through their paces whilst some others competed in some fun games and tried their luck at the fastest serve competition.

The fastest serve was recorded at 104 mph by Kevin Small, whilst the best effort serve from the juniors came from Scott Fleming with a serve of 87mph. Dundee Sweatshop was also on site on the day selling some bargains to those who attended.

The club has a good social scene as well as the competitive playing opportunities for those who wish to play at a more advanced level (gents, ladies and juniors). For those of you who are not so competitive and would just like to participate socially to keep you active and meet new friends then you would be welcome to make use of the facilities where you will be made very welcome.

Families are encouraged to join the club where they can take advantage of the dedicated family night on a Friday throughout the season.

There are membership forms available within the clubhouse for anyone who would like to join anyone of any age or playing ability is welcome. There will be various coaching programmes for all ages available throughout the season for anyone who wishes to attend.
